Nigerian Soldiers Kill 25 Terrorists Despite Ceasefire

Nigerian soldiers are said to have killed 25 Boko Haram members in Damboa, Borno State despite the recent ceasefire reached between the government and the sect

The ceasefire between the Nigerian government and Boko Haram doesn’t seem to have taken hold as troops are said to have attacked members of the sect leaving at least 25 of them dead.

The attack is said to have occurred in Damboa Town in Borno State on the evening of Sunday, October 19. The terrorists attacked the town at about 5pm but the were reportedly repelled by the soldiers.

A member of a local vigilante, Abbas Muhammad Gava said:

“My members of the Vigilante Group in Damboa had informed me early this morning that the attack was repelled and more than two dozens of them were killed,”

A senior security source reportedly told Leadership Newspaper:

“Well, it was another bad day for the BH terrorists in Damboa yesterday (Sunday) when they tried attacking the village,”."Our soldiers were up to their task there as they effectively repelled them and gunned down 25 of them, while several others fled with injuries.”

When asked about the ceasefire, the source said:

“Whether with ceasefire or not, we are going to deal with those bastards until we see their miserable end by the grace of God. Nigeria cannot be subdued by some bunch of miscreants, enough is enough.”

The Nigerian government, through Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, announced on Friday, October 17, that it had reached a ceasefire agreement with Boko Haram after negotiations which held in Saudi Arabia.

However, despite the agreement, members of the sect attacked the Abadam and Dzur villages in Borno and left 9 people dead and were also credited with the beheading of 6 people along Biu-Garkida Road in the state.
