FG, Boko Haram Agree to Ceasefire

The Nigerian government and terrorist sect, Boko Haram have reportedly agreed to a ceasefire after negotiations in Saudi Arabia

The Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria might have come to an end as the nation’s government and representatives of the sect have reportedly agreed to a ceasefire.

Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh announced the deal and instructed all service chiefs "to comply with the cease-fire agreement between Nigeria and Boko Haram in all theatres of operations”, Voice of America reports.

The development was also reportedly confirmed to VOA by Danladi Ahmadu, the self-acclaimed Secretary-General of Boko Haram.

It was reported earlier today that the Nigerian government had begun talks with the sect in Saudi Arabia to sue for peace and end the bloody war in the North-East of Nigeria.

Negotiations were also said to be ongoing to broker the release of the abducted Chibok girls but it is not yet clear what decision has been reached as regards their freedom.
