Apparently, about 18 shops have already been demolished and there is armed security everywhere supervising the demolition. Sources also say the demolition was restricted to only a particular block of shops.

Some sources who have spoken to media houses under the conditions of anonymity have said Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode plans to turn that location into a BRT bus park. However, this is unconfirmed.

Last year, the Lagos State government announced plans to relocate the famous Computer Village from Ikeja to the Kotangowa axis of the city. The state government reiterated those plans a few weeks ago. It is unclear if this demolition is part of the state governments relocation plans.

This is a developing story. More to come as it unfolds.
