The striking Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) lecturers and their students were met with force as they attempted to force their way to the National Assembly.
STRIKE: Police Attack Protesting ASUP, COEASU Members With Gas, Hot Water
Officers of the Nigeria Police Force dispersed protesting lecturers of Polytechnics and Colleges of Education with hot water and teargas on Tuesday in Abuja.

Placards reading "FG meet COEASU and ASUP demands", "Government systematically Killing Teacher-Education" among others were displayed by the protesters.
Yesterday, Student Pulse reported that Polytechnic students staged a protest in Abuja and threatened to disrupt proceedings at the ongoing national confab by Wednesday if the government to resolve the 8-months-old Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) strike.
