Five candidates who topped the post-University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) of the University of Ibadan (UI) have been offered automatic scholarships with tentative job offers.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Isaac Adewole, revealed this while speaking with journalists on Tuesday, The Nation reports.
Adewole said the top five students will be rewarded.
“The performance of the five best candidates that were given automatic scholarship from this institution will be monitored and they may be retained after their studies here” Adewole said.
The candidates are Adetunji AbdulRaham who scored 86 (Law), Amaji Obinna Charles who scored 86 (Medicine and Surgery), Adebiyi Tijesunimi who scored 85 (Electrical and Electronics Engineering), Oke Dorcas who scored 83 (Medicine and Surgery) and Olowosulu Cassandra Olawumi who scored 83 (Medicine and Surgery).
The Vice Chancellor also revealed that the institution will only admit 3700 of the 19,268 candidates that sat for its Post-UTME for the 2005/2015 academic session.
He warned against admission lobbying.
