Man And Son Sentenced To Death For Murder

A father and son in Ekiti State have been sentenced to death for murder.

A father and his son have been sentenced to death by hanging by an Ado-Ekiti High Court in Ekiti state, for murdering a high chief while working on his farm after a disagreement the family had.

55-year-old Jimoh Ayeni and his son, Haruna, got the capital punishment for killing Chief Clement Ayeni, a family member over a piece of land they had been dragging for years and decided to carry out the jungle justice on the man after their community heads ruled in favour of Chief Ayeni. Jimoh and his son then planned to kill the man and carried out their plan while he was working on the farm.

Justice Mosun Bodunde found the man and his son guilty of murder and duly sentenced them to death for their crimes.

Bodunde said the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubts that the duo committed the murder on June 27, 2012.
