CEO resigns amidst diesel scandal because of wife

A new CEO, Matthias Mueller, was appointed is to deal with the mess created by the old CEO, Martin Winterkorn.
Just when things seemed to be getting better, with the automaker switching to electric vehicles in order to stay relevant, the CEO of Volkswagen Group’s North American Region, Winfried Vahland, has resigned less than two weeks after his appointment.

His reason for leaving is "expressly not related to current events on the issue of diesel engines."
However, two inside sources have revealed that the former CEO quit because his wife told him to.
Reportedly, she is tired of moving for the last 25 years, which led her to threaten her husband with a divorce if he moved to Virginia, where VW's US headquarters are.
