Veteran Nollywood actress Ego Boyo has been announced as the 60th President of International Women’s Society (IWS).

The organisation founded in 1957 is an independent, non-political, non-governmental and non-profit organisation.

Ego Boyo will be the 60th president of the distinguished society and will be invested at an event holding today, Tuesday, March 14, 2017.

According to a statement from IWS, "The event will showcase women who are doing extraordinary work and changing lives with a photography series and it also serves as a “call to arms” to young women to embrace charitable service whilst pursuing their careers."

Ego Boyo has been in Nollywood since the late 80s. The filmmaker became a household name following her character in the classic movie "Checkmate."
