Fierce fighting broke out on Monday in the district of Ghout al-Chaal of Tripoli, showing an escalation in the violence that has plagued Libya over time.

Media reported that the national army and forces loyal to it in the western region of the country have recently launched an offensive to retake control of the capital seized by Fajr Libya

Military sources said huge sporadic explosions could be heard all over the area, adding that gunmen blocked the main road linking the zones of al-Saraj and Ghout al-Chaal in the southwest. The sources did not give further details, including the injured or deaths but merely said that dozens of families in the region of Tripoli had been displaced.
