30 killed, 100 injured as truck crashes into crowd in Nice

At least 30 people were killed in the southern French town of Nice when a truck ran into a crowd celebrating the Bastille Day national holiday.

 

The sad occurence, which happened on Thursday, July 14, 2016, also recorded various degree of injuries sustained by 100 people.

According to multiple tweets, many could be seen running in panic after a truck crashed into the crowd on Promenade des Anglais in Nice, France.

There were also unconfirmed reports of gunfire with some claiming it was a planned attack.

Reuters reports that at least 30 people were killed and 100 injured in the southern French town of Nice when a truck ran into a crowd celebrating the Bastille Day national holiday on Thursday night.

The truck rammed into the crowd on the Promenade des Anglais seaside walk in the centre of town, regional newspaper Nice Matin reported, citing its own reporter at the scene.

French television channel BFM TV said the local prefecture in Nice was treating the incident as an attack and was asking people to stay at home.

The crash in Nice is coming barely five days after the Euro2016 football games in France and eight months after the Paris Attacks.
