Groom's drunk video goes viral, wife sues photographer

An American woman has launched a legal action against her wedding photographer after he released sn embarrassing video of her drunken groom, which has now gone viral.

The unnamed couple, from San Francisco, said they first found the video quite hilarious; as the groom who had obviously had too much to drink was making “sexually suggestive” movements, falling over and making her cry.

However, they became“shocked, mortified, anguished, humiliated and shamed” after they discovered that the video had gone viral on YouTube, and even a friend of the groom’s who lives in Ireland called to tell them he’d seen it!

An action has now been filed against the photographer, as the bride was horrified by comments left on the video which were “ridiculing and personally criticising”

According to the lawsuit, the video had been shared and viewed more than two million times within just a few days.

The bride maintains that she has suffered severe psychological and emotional distress and a damaged reputation.

She also says that the videographer had “made a joke” of her wedding day and claims the clip that went viral was longer and a lot more damaging to their character than what is on their own personal copy of the DVD.

In a public statement, the George Street Video, the company at the centre of the lawsuit expressed their regret and disappointment, saying: “In our 12-year history of capturing, editing and delivering thousands of wedding photos and videos we have never experienced anything like this”.

“We are very disappointed and upset by this situation and we have spent considerable time removing our video from the internet.”

In accordance with US Copyright Law, the company retains rights to the video.
