Little girl almost dies following Cobra bite caused by superstitious dad

Wang Mengyao, aged 8, had reportedly been forced to endure lethal bites of a Cobra snake while she had been held down by her father at their home in Wuqiang County, Hebei Province.

A superstitious Chinese man has been alleged to have deliberately let a venomous Cobra snake bite his sick little girl in a desperate yet very misguided bid to treat her blood disorder.

Wang Mengyao, aged 8, had reportedly been forced to endure lethal bites of a Cobra snake while she had been held down by her father at their home in Wuqiang County, Hebei Province.

People's Daily Online reports that the poor little girl had been close to losing her life and only survived because she had been rushed to the hospital for anti-venom serum.

Mengyao's father, Wang Jingshuai, 33, is reported to have been trying a folk remedy, which was claimed to require a cobra's venom for curing anemia, after he realised he couldn't afford his daughter's medical bills.

Jingshuai had revealed that Mengyao had suffered a two-week fever in January 2011, after which she had been diagnosed with aplastic anemia by the second best hospital in Provinsial Shijiszhuang, Hebei.Wang Jingshuai is reported to have revealed that Mengyao's health had zapped all of the family's savings overs the years, in their bid to save her life.

Jingshuai revealed that he had hesitated at first but had later decided to take the risk, enlisting the help of his friend in purchasing a venomous Cobra snake from South China.

Mengyao is revealed to have refused to be bitten after seeing the snake but Jingshuai reportedly held her down, before holding the mouth of the Cobra to her wrist.

Mengyao's condition took a turn for the worse after the 'treatment', forcing him to rush her to the hospital, where she was saved using anti-venom serum.
