1. Mount Cameroon: Standing at an elevation of 4,040metres, Mount Cameroon is an active volcano in Cameroon located near the Gulf of Guinea. It is the highest point in sub-Saharan western and central Africa, and the fourth most prominent peak in Africa.

2. Mount Kilimanjaro: The highest point in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro stands 16,001 feet from its base. Located in Tanzania, this is a major climbing destination.

3. Table Mountain: No trip to South Africa (Cape Town) is complete without a visit to the oh-so popular Table Mountain which stands at 3,558 ft. For a truly memorable experience, ditch the cable car and hike all the way to the top instead.

4. Mount Kenya: The second highest mountain in Africa after Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya stands at 17,057 ft at its highest peak. Kenya is named for this mountain. An area of 715 km around the centre of the mountain was designated a National Park, and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.

5. Mount Stanley: This is the third highest mountain in Africa, and stands at 16,763 ft. The mountain is part of the Rwenzori Mountains National Park, a UNESCO world Heritage Site.
