Government curbs the movement of trailers

Finally, Lagos state is doing something about the trailer situation.

Trailers/tankers, traffic menace

Tankers and trailers are definitely a major cause of traffic in Lagos.

Not only do they cause traffic, they also cause accident.

Thankfully, Lagos State Government has passed a new law, which restricts trailers and articulated vehicles from moving between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Oluseyi Whenu, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, revealed this at a meeting in Lagos with the leadership of the various transport unions in the State.

According to him, this restriction is to ensure strict enforcement of the Road Traffic Law, which, was often violated by the trailer drivers.

He also said that the government would henceforth go tough on any trailer that contravenes the law.

Lagos is not the first state to take preventive measures against the trailer/tanker menace.
