UberEVENTS will let event organisers order prepaid rides to guests attending their events

According to various media reports, Uber has just announced UberEVENTS, a new service aimed at event organisers to pre-pay rides for their guests.

A TechCrunch report reveals that Uber is launching the service first in New York so that all the event hosts can purchase rides in the form of guest passes, ahead of time for attendees. The guest passes are also highly customizable via the date, time and promotion code.

“When planning a company happy hour, client appreciation dinner, or even upcoming nuptials, there is a lot that goes into ensuring that your event goes off without a hitch—including how your guests can safely get to and from without any fuss,” writes Uber Senior Marketing Manager Kimiko Ninomiya on the Uber blog. “We want to make the experience of planning transportation logistics as seamless as ordering a ride at the touch of button.”

There is no information yet as to when the UberEVENTS service will be available in other parts of the world, especially in Africa.
