How to watch content that isn't available in Nigeria

In Nigeria, you may not have access to all the shows/movies that someone in the US or UK will have access to. So how do you gain access?

Netflix

Netflix recently announced that it had expanded into an unprecedented 130 additional countries, including Nigeria, at the CES 2016 event which held in Las Vegas.

This means you will have access to loads of Netflix content from almost anywhere in the world apart from China, North Korea, Syria, and Crimea.

However, now that Netflix is global, its content will vary from market to market because it regularly pulls popular programming to keep its content fresh. Also, licensing deals are different from market to market, and Netflix likes to curate its content based on what it thinks locals will like.

In essence this means that, in Nigeria, you may not have access to all the shows/movies that someone in the US or UK will have access to. So how do you gain access to all your favorite shows even if they are not available in Nigeria?

All you need to do is invest a little money in some special software. If you buy a VPN – a software that lets you access the Internet while appearing to be in another country – then you will be able to access and sample a wide range of programming beyond what is available in Nigeria.

For example, Godfather ½ is available in Netflix’s Thailand catalogue but not on its US catalog. With a VPN, someone in the US can still access the Thailand catalogue and see Godfather.

There are hundreds of VPN softwares out there but I would recommend you get a paid one. The reason for this is because free platforms like that hardy offer any protection in the event of a hack or clamp down.

VPN’s generally cost about $10/N2800 (going by current exchange rates) per months but much cheaper if you pay long term. The best VPN I’ve used is still TunnelBear but there are others such as Astrill, ExpressVPN, and Private Internet Access.

Get a VPN today and access Netflix’s global catalog. Thank me later.
