Tech company restates commitment to infrastructure investment for broadband growth

Telecommunication and network solutions provider, MainOne, has expressed its commitment to further growth in Nigeria, according to various media reports.

The company’s general counsel, Kazeem Oladepo, made this known while speaking to journalists at its Lagos office, emphasizing the company’s efforts towards infrastructure development in Nigeria and its contribution to driving Nigeria’s Internet revolution.

Oladepo stated that MainOne, since it obtained its 20-year submarine cable license in 2008, has sought additional license and investment opportunities that have directly contributed to the reboot of the Internet Service Provision (ISP) service in Nigeria.

He added that MainOne’s ISP license renewal is currently in progress, will enable the company further bridge the digital divide in Nigeria.

“MainOne has received various permits from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) including International Submarine Cable Infrastructure and Landing Station License (August 2008 to July 2028); Metropolitan Fibre Cable Network Licenses, operational in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, Nigeria (June 2011 to May 2031) and Internet Service Provision License (June 2011 to May 2016), currently undergoing renewal,” Oladepo said.

MainOne won the award for Broadband Company of the Year 2011 at the Nigerian Telecoms Awards as well as the Nigerian Communications Commission Award for Deployment of Broadband acros the nation in 2013.
