The EMCOAN president said this was a good move as the switch-over could not even take place without carry content providers along with the plans.

President of the Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria, Mrs. Debbie Odutayo has expressed satisfaction at the fact that the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) is willing to collaborate with her organization for successful digitization of the Nigerian broadcast industry.

Although the regulatory body failed to meet the June 2015 international deadline for the digital switch-over, Odutayo said deeper collaboration between major stakeholders such as her association – which is responsible for over 85% of media content in Nigeria – and the NBC would contribute a lot to successfully meeting up with the new target date.

The EMCOAN president said this was a good move as the switch-over could not even take place without carry content providers along with the plans.

Mrs. Odutayo reiterated that her association would love to work with the NBC over the next 18 months to achieve the new deadline and join the ranks of countries like Ghana and Tanzania in achieving digitization.
