Niger Gov. Urges Science Education... Donates 25 Computers, Bus, Cash

Governor Mu'azu has urged students in Niger to study the sciences as Nigeria seeks to enter the league of technologically developed nations

Students in Niger state have been urged to study science subjects in order to contribute to efforts aimed at repositioning Nigeria's technological development.

Speaking at the weekend, Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, said the students are the future and should thus study the sciences to help the nation grow.

“You are the future of the country and you came at the time of globalization.

"The study of ICT and other science based courses will make the country enter the corridor of the global village," Mu'azu said, as quoted in a Daily Trust report.

The governor also redeemed a pledge of N1m made to two schools, Top Hill Secondary School and Maryam Babangida Girl’s Science Secondary School in Minna.

Both schools had emerged 1st and 2nd place respectively in a debate organised to mark the World Population the week before.

Aliyu also made a donation of twenty-five computers and a school bus to the schools.
