Confab Delegates Now Play Scrabble To Avoid Sleeping

It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter to you all, even as I read the news that 'our' Confab Delegate are now either sleeping or playing scrabble at a conference meant to map our future.

This anomaly is made more painful because their presence at the conference is paid for, it is not a service rendered out of patriotism.

I am sure most of us will be willing to collect only 5% of what they are being paid to sit in that conference hall and listen, or sleep and play scrabble.

Yes, there may or may not be a good motive behind calling for the conference - only God and the convener Uncle Jona can tell us about that.

But will we continue to watch the mockery of our collective intellects by aged people who might end up dying even before the report of the confab is typed?

We all raised noise over the 'sleepin delegates' drama, after pictures emerged showing delegates answering the call of nature while the nation is still boiling - killings all over, poverty everywhere!

The delegates seem to be saying:

lets play a game of scrabble

we have enough money, lets gamble

the nation can die! who cares?

abeg, lets sleep and play my dears!

Now, is it any wonder that the main issues they have raised at the confab are relating to their allowances and whether or not they will vote this way or that?

Weeks have gone and nothing has been gained by the average Nigerian, except those benefiting from the monthly (or weekly) bank alerts that seem to be the only thing keeping our scrabbling and sleeping delegates from going home in anger.

Polytechnic students will soon celebrate the 1 year birthday of the ASUP strike, Boko Haram gets more daring, Fulani vs Farmers war enters Season infinity, CBN and NNPC can’t reconcile our revenue, Baby Factories are sprouting like pubic hair, poverty is growing beards, APC and PDP turn us to pawn in a game of political chess...and the delegates are scrabbling and sleeping!

My brothers and sisters, don’t you think it is time we take our destinies into our hands?

I do not mean taking to the streets, but taking to the streets of our collective creativity, starting something, no matter how small, as we await the 2015 battleground.

Yes, it will be a battle ground because they are already sharpening PDP-istic and APC-cious knives, dividing us to rule us.

Open your eyes, and be the change you want to see in Nigeria.
