OAU Resumes August 24, Lectures Resume Immediately

OAU will reopen over two months after it was closed following students protests

The management of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU,  Ile-Ife, has announced an official date for the re-opening of the institution.

According to a press release made available to the media, students are expected to return to the campus on Sunday, 24th of August, 2014

Lectures will begin on Monday, 25th August, 2014.

"Consequently, ALL students are to report back to Campus on Sunday, 24th August, 2014.

"Thank you," the announcement read in part.

OAU was shut down on Wednesday 18th June 2014 following a wave of student anti-management protests over increased tuition fees and other charges.
