A change of power is about to happen at the Umaru Musa Yar'adua University, Katsina State, as the tenure of the present Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Muuta Ibrahim, comes to an end.
12 professors in brain ‘war’ to take over as UMYUK VC
Twelve professors are vying for the position of Vice Chancellor at the Umaru Musa Yar'adua University as the tenure of the incumbent ends this May.
gathered that about 12 professors last week took part in an interview for the soon-to-be-vacant position.
Reports say incumbent Ibrahim is set to complete his tenure in May and the state governor is expected to appoint another person in his stead, which is why the exercise was conducted.
Some of the Vice Chancellor hopefuls who took part in the exercise include Prof. Aminu Kado, Prof. Haruna Yusuf, Prof. Ibrahim Sada, Prof. Sani Mashi, Prof. Idris Isa Funtua, Prof. Mansur Ibrahim, the present Rector of the state polytechnic, and Prof. Ibrahim Malumfashi.
The candidates will be screened in a processes reportedly being overseen by the Chairman of the governing council of the university, Musa Abdullahi, after which the names of the best three will be forwarded to the state governor for consideration.
