[PHOTOS] Injured students survive Potiskum College terror strike

A lone suicide bomber had attacked the College of Administrative and Business Studies (CABS), Potiskum, early Friday shooting his way into the premises with an AK47 rifle. He shot seven people and then detonated a bomb to escape capture, but was the only fatality in an attack that could have been worse.

Survivors of the suicide bomb attack on the College of Administrative and Business Studies (CABS), Potiskum, are receiving treatment at the Potiskum General Hospital.

A lone suicide bomber had attacked the College, early Friday mornin, shooting his way into the premises with an AK47 rifle.

He shot seven people and then detonated a bomb to escape capture, but was the only fatality in an attack that could have been worse.

An eyewitness who spoke with Daily Trust,Malam Mustafa Ilyasu, said the bomber detonated the bomb he carried after the shooting.

"A suicide bomber came into the school shooting sporadically before he detonated the bomb," Ilyasu said.

"We are not sure of the number of casualties but I saw hospital ambulance conveying people to Potiskum General Hospital."

Another confirmed that a number of students were injured in the explosion.

"The bomber ran out of ammunition and attempted to escape but later detonated the explosive to avoid being caught by people," he said.

"Many students that attempted to scale the college parameter fence sustained injuries."

Police Public Relation officer, Toyin Gbadegesin, confirmed reports that the attacker killed himself and injured several students.

Potiskum is one of the worst hit towns since the beginning of the insurgency.
