Anambra Students Beg Gov. Obiano For Bursary
Tertiary institution students of Anambra origin want the state government to pay them bursaries as it done in most states in Nigeria
The students, under the umbrella of the National Union of Anambra State Students (NUASS), say bursaries would go a long way in lessening financial burden borne by their parents and also encourage the younger ones to aspire to higher educational qualifications.
NUASS President, Comrade Israel Anozie, during a convention of the union to elect a new set of executives, said they have yearned for a time when the governor would listen to their call for bursaries.
Almost all states in Nigeria pay bursaries to their students, though the amount paid varies from state to state.
In a country in Nigeria where the economic factors have limited income of most parents, many students live on government bursaries.
Student Pulse reported that law students of in their bursaries from N50,000 to N100,000 in July.
Also, in April, the National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) protested the non-payment of their Bursary and scholarship award by the state government.
