Christian, Muslim students condemn religious intolerance at Abuja conference

Christian and Muslim students have promised to always tolerate and respect each other's religious views in order to build a united Nigeria, following an interactive interfaith conference organized by the Young Catholic Students of Nigeria

Nigerian Christian and Muslim students have resolved to always tolerate and respect each other's religious views in order to build a peaceful and united nation.

The students reached the conclusion after an interactive interfaith conference organized by the Young Catholic Students of Nigeria (YCSN) in Abuja, Daily Trust reports.

Both Christian and Muslim youths and students attended the conference.

YCSN National Chaplain, Monsignor Hypolite Adigwe, urged participants to stop manipulating religion for personal gains which are not connected to God.

“It will be difficult to understand the complacency with which the culture of impunity is being enthroned, even in the name of religion," Monsignor Adigwe said.

A Muslim panellist who spoke at the event, Hajiya Yusuf, referred to the Forgotten Covenant in which Prophet Muhammad tasked Muslims to defend Christians and not to destroy their worship houses.
