A 91-year-old woman has besieged the office of the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, claiming ownership of the Isolo Secondary School.
91-yr-old woman invades Fashola's office, wants late husband's school returned
Roseline Ololo, a 91-year-old woman who said she founded the Isolo Secondary School with her late husband in 1995, has laid siege on Governor, Fashola's office demanding that the school be returned to her.
Roseline Ololo, said she founded the school with her late husband, Chief Michael Ololo, in 1995 with the name Metropolitan College.
The nonagenarian vowed she will continue the action until the school is returned to her.
Ololo's lawayer, Malcolm Omirhobo had urged the governor to comply with the Education (Private Secondary Institutions Special Provisions (Repeal) Law of Lagos State which mandated the return of private secondary schools in the state to their owners for effective management.
He noted that all other private schools had been returned to their owners.
Following the government's failure to release the schools as requested, Omirhobo then wrote another letter notifying Fashola of the nonagenarian's intended peaceful protest.
"Regrettably and unfortunately, as at today, May 13, 2015, we have yet to receive any response from your office," the letter read.
"This callous and nonchalant posture of the Lagos State Government has caused my client to be restive and apprehensive that unless cogent and urgent steps are taken, her school may not be returned to her before your Excellency vacates office.”
All other schools seized following the 1976 Education (Private Secondary Institutions Special Provisions) Law have been returned to their owners with the exception of the Metropolitan College.
