Muhammad explained that the present administration in the state have also rehabilitated Sheme and `Yankara Primary schools, noting that Tafoki primary school project was ongoing.

He added that the projects have decongested population and provide shelter for pupils that facilitated increased enrolments in the area.

He described the projects as part of fulfilment of Masari’s electioneering campaign promise on uplifting educational standard in the state.

Muhammad said that he had forwarded two additional schools; Bilbis and Daudawa primary schools, which were all inspected by the State Chairman of SUBEB, Alhaji Lawal Buhari, for rehabilitation in recognition of their dilapidated conditions.

He advised parents to monitor their children performance through routine observation of their daily activities, stressing that he embarked on routine inspection of teachers activities in partnership with the zonal quality assurance directorate.

The education secretary further assured Parent Teachers Association (PTA) of Sheme Primary School on government attention on their demands for fencing the school against all forms of encroachments.

NAN recalls that Alhaji Shehu Sani-Sheme, a PTA member, had appealed to Masari to fence the school as he commended the governor for rehabilitating schools.

Sani explained that, the school constructed in 1966, was the only public primary school in the town and had not been rehabilitated despite several appeals from groups and individuals from the area.

He expressed optimism that the fence would increase sanity and improve learning condition, adding that because of the decay of the institution, PTA and other community members usually assist in routine school repairs.

According to him, Masari’s administration rehabilitated the school with construction of more classes this year and commended the contractor, Alhaji Abdulkadir Aliyu, for a standard job.

The community leaders commended Masari over the project, noting that will surely enhance learning activities in the village and underscored the importance of fencing the school as it neighboured Sheme market.

The school Headmaster, Malam Sanusi Yusuf, said the school had 2,259 pupils with 17 teachers at present, adding that the school attracts pupils from Kware, Unguwar-Sarki, Nadegi and Unguwar Haji settlements beside Sheme town.

However, Yusuf said that the school needed more teachers and instructional materials.
