A 22-year-old Government Secondary School student, Idris Yakubu, drowned while swimming in a river, NAN reports.

The police was reportedly alerted of the incident, after which a team was said to have gone to retrieve the body.
Bauchi police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, said that the late student had gone to bath in a stream in Narabi Village when the incident occurred.
Yakubu was then rushed to the General Hospital, Toro, where a medical doctor certified him dead.
Mr. Mohammed said that corpse had been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary pending a post-mortem after which it would be released to the family for burial.
The police advised parents and guardians to warn their children to stay away from streams or rivers in order not to fall victims of drowning.
