14-Year-Old Kano Suicide Bomber Targeted NYSC Corp Members

The teenage female suicide bomber who blew up herself yesterday at the Kano State Polytechnic might have targeted prospective National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) members.

According to official reports, the the girl, believed to be about 14 years old, walked into a crowd of students and blew up herself and, killing three people and injuring 21 others

The students were checking the NYSC mobilisation list, recently posted by the institution's authorities, at the central administration of the Kano polytechnic along BUK road.

A source quoted by confirmed that the girl was very young.

“Her head was intact and from it I observed that she newly plaited her hair and she did a fine make-up before embarking on the suicide mission.

"She was a very young girl,” the source was quoted as saying.

No sect has claimed the attack but the Boko Haram sect,which has targeted NYSC members in the past, will be the main suspect.

This attack will definitely heighten fears about the safety of corp members in the northern parts of Nigeria.
