Thirty-eight pupils of Inland Primary school, Imilike-Enu, Udenu LGA of Enugu, got scholarships to study up to university level in a very unusual way.
38 primary school pupils get scholarships after singing at governor's campaign rally
A song, composed by a retired headmaster, Odoh Ifeanyi, and sung by 38 students at a gubernatorial campaign rally, moved the incumbent governor, Sullivan Chime, so much that he promised to train them all to university level.
In March they were has sang a welcome song at the gubernatorial campaign rally of now governor-elect Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who also hails from the LGA.

With the elections over, Vanguard reports that Chairman of Udenu Council, Amechi Nwodo, teachers of the school and and parents of the beneficiaries have appealed to the state government not to renege its promise.
Nwodo, who told Vanguard that the council had already forwarded the names of the pupils to the state government with their present classes and age for necessary action, says he hopes the government would not renege on the scholarship.
