Chairman Ellu Town Union, Warri Branch, Mr Thomas Omoviye, has appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowaof Delta State not to scrap the Oleh campus of Delta State University, Abraka, Vanguard reports.
Delta state governor urged not to scrap campus
He advised Governor Okowa not to think along that line of scrapping the campus, noting that the Oleh campus of the state university has come to stay as it was highly coveted by the Isoko people.
Omoviye made this statement to press in Warri. He said that the negative effect of such an action cannot be quantified in terms of infrastructure and financial loss, stressing the importance of the satellite campus in Oleh to Delta South senatorial district and the Isoko nation.
He warned that the move will do more harm than good, noting that the Oleh campus which hosts the faculties of Law and Engineering was among the most valuable faculties of the state-owned university.
Omoviye gave examples of other universities that operate similar satellite campuses such as the Abia State University Uturu, Umuahia campus, Aba campus amongst others.
He advised Governor Okowa not to think along that line of scrapping the campus, noting that the Oleh campus of the state university has come to stay as it was highly coveted by the Isoko people. Describing the relocation move as a kite that will be doomed at flight, Omoviye observed that the governor in his wisdom will not commit such a blunder having risen through the three tiers of government with so much wealth of experience.
