NFF Woos Ex-Internationals To Help Rebuild National Team

Okocha, Kanu, Mercy Akide, Florence Omagbemi and 19 other ex-internationals drafted into the NFF's Technical study group to help reshape national teams

The Nigeria Football Federation NFF, in a meeting of the Executive Committee members in Uyo on Wednesday, posited to rebuilding the  national team, Super Eagles with fresh and younger legs in its bid to build a stronger team for the country.

In the meeting, led by the president Amaju Pinnick, the board resolved to draft ex-internationals into a Technical Study Group to help in getting talented Nigerian youngsters in developmental leagues across Europe and helping to win the commitment of Nigeria-born footballers to represent the country.

Former skipper, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha is the chairman of the group which constitutes: Benedict Akwuegbu, Celestine Babayaro, Michael Obiku, Darlington Omodiagbe, Finidi George, Taribo West, Tijani Babangida, Kashimawo Laloko, Henry Nwosu, Peter Rufai, Dominic Iorfa, Nwankwo Kanu, Dahiru Sadi, Gbenga Ogunbote, Mutiu Adepoju, Florence Omagbemi,Mercy Akide-Udoh, Ann Chiejine, Eucharia Uche, Salisu Yusuf, Alloy Agu and Benedict Iroha.

Nigeria on Wednesday lost out in qualification to the 2015 African Cup in Nations slated for Equatorial Guinea with its 2-2 draw against South Africa, which meant that if finished third in Group A, with Congo having beaten Sudan 0-1 in the other game played in Khartoum and the federation says that it takes the whole blame for the disaster.
