Plateau United grab crucial away win to remain on top

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders Plateau United grabbed a crucial away win at Sunshine Stars in matchday 23.

Plateau United were the only team to pick an away win in Matchday 23 beating Sunshine Stars 2-1 in Akure.

The home side took the lead through Ezekiel Thompson in the 34th minute and went into halftime on top.

Plateau United, however, equalised just two minutes after the break through Emmanuel Odafe.

Emeka Umeh netted the winner for Plateau United to get a very crucial three point.

Sunshine Stars of Akure ended the game with 10 men after goalkeeper David Ariyo was sent off for protesting Plateau United’s winning goal.

Plateau United now have a five-point lead at the top of the NPFL table.

A total of 16 goals were scored in the eight centres of matchday 23 games.
