Ndidi received his second red card of the season in Leicester’s 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, March 31.
After an initial red card against Crystal Palace in December, the second red card meant Ndidi will miss out on Leicester City’s the next two league matches against Newcastle United on Saturday, April 7 and Burnley on Saturday, April 14.
Ndidi's performance for Leicester City has seen him ranked as the top tackler in the Premier League this season
Leicester City’s boss Puel has come out to state that he is worried about how Ndidi’s suspension will affect the team.
Puel stated that because of the position in which Ndidi plays he is a very important player to the team.
Speaking in his post-match interview after the match Puel stated that to lose Ndidi towards the ending of the season is difficult for his team.
He said, “To lose him just in this moment of the season is harsh for us because as a team we do not have a lot of players with the same attributes,"
“We will try and find a solution, a collective response about this sending-off.”
Puel also decided not to criticize Ndidi for his red card which meant he would miss two matches, rather the Leicester boss praised Ndidi as a top performer and hailed his work ethic.
He said, “He will get possession in a lot of balls and prevents the opponent from making contact. He’s been fantastic since the beginning of the season.”
Leicester City were already ahead against Brighton with a goal by Vicente Iborra before Ndidi was sent off, Jamie Vardy scored late on to seal the result after Ndidi’s dismissal.
Ndidi is expected to return to action in the Premier League against Southampton on Thursday, April 19 after missing games against Newcastle and Burnley.
