Samson Siasia and his boys are camped in Atlanta, United States where they are preparing for the football event of Rio 2016.
Siasia made news last week after revealing that that they have been facing several difficulties because of lack of funds in camp.
According to , the team’s training camp in the USA is currently being bankrolled by a private individual.
“It is not the (NFF) or the sports ministry who are paying for this up to this point,” the report quotes a source.
It is however not known who is will be responsible for the team after the 10-dar period of the private sponsorship deals collapses.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung on Tuesday, July, 12 shockingly revealed that he’s not aware that Nigeria’s U-23 football team is camped in the United States.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Dalung said he is not aware that the team is in the United States let alone their predicament.
“The issue of our U23 national team suffering in the United States of America is news to me. In fact I am hearing it from you (the media) for the first time,” Dalung told reporters.
“They (Dream Team VI) didn’t tell us what they were there for and who took them there. It doesn’t mean that if somebody goes to the market and has problem then you will come and ask the ministry (of Youths and Sports). The question is who took them there? And what are they there for?”
The Dream VI will jet out to Brazil on Friday, July 29 after playing two warm-up games; they have been placed in Group B alongside Group B Sweden, Colombia and Japan.
