The Nigerian striker opened the scoring for Malaga in the 27th minute but was not enough s Valencia replied with two goals to win he game.
Malaga confirmed the Nigerian as the fans man of the match when they posted a picture of the Nigerian on their official Twitter account.
Ideye's goal was his first since he joined Malaga on loan from Chinese outfit TiajinTeda, without any points from the game,Malaga are still rooted the bottom to the bottom of the Spanish League.
Ideye and fellow Malaga new signing had previously lost a relegation battle to compatriot Ogehenekaro Etebo's Las Palmas.
The 29-year-old spoke to the club after being elected as man of the match, and he reflected no the outcome of the game.
He said, "It's very sad to lose a match like this. For me it is very difficult, because the team is not in a situation to lose a match in this way."
Ideye however admitted the bitter and sweet feeling after scoring but his team still lost the game.
“On the one hand I’m happy, but on the other, sad. It’s positive for me to have scored my first goal for my team, but unfortunately we were defeated.” He said
He was also optimistic about the chances of Malaga escaping relegation as there are still 15 matches to go after the defeat to Valencia.
He said, “I say to the fans that we’ll never give up and hope they will continue supporting us and spurring us on. I understand that these are tough times for us, but I think everything will get better. There are 15 matches remaining and it’s possible to move up.”
The forward started his football in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) with Ocean Boys and Bayelsa United before moving abroad to play with Swiss club Neuchâtel Xamax, then to Sochaux in France, he then spent three years at Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv.
