Dalian Quanjian stop Super Falcons star from France friendly

The Super Falcons will take on France in an international friendly on Friday, April 6, 2018.

Oshoala who is the reigning African Women’s Footballer of the year was not included in the 17-woman list released by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and newly unveiled Super Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby for the international friendly against France.

According to a report by the, Oshoala was denied permission to represent her country by Dalian Quanjian due to overstaying in Nigeria, which caused her to report late for the clubs preseason activities.

The report quotes a source in the NFF who said, "Asisat Oshoala was in [Nigeria] coach Thomas Dennerby's plans but her Chinese club was not ready to release her because she overstayed in Nigeria,"

Asides Oshoala’s absence the 17-woman list sees some very notable absentees, and the report states that some players were omitted from the list due to logistical problems.

"Some players had visa and passport problems, another complained that she was unwell," the report stated.

After a picking up the bronze medal at the WAFU Women’s Cup in Ivory Coast, the Super Falcons aim to use the friendly against France as a preparatory game for the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) which will be held in Ghana.

Oshoala who earlier called for more matches will be missing when the Super Falcons take on France on Friday, April 6 at the Stade MMArena, Le Mans.
