Nigerian defender moves to Sogndal in Norway

Latifu joins Sogndal on a two year contract which will run out when the 2019 season is over.

Latifu joins the OBOS-ligaen team on a two year contract which will run out when the 2019 season is over.

The 28-year-old joins the Sogndal as a free agent after his contract with Hungarian club side Budapest Honvéd expired in November 2017

Akeem has a wealth of experience as he has previously played for Bussdor, Ocean Boys, Akwa United, Strømsgodset, Hødd, Aalesund, Stal Dniprodzerzhynsk, Alanyaspor, Zira and Budapest Honvéd.

Sogndal’s sports director Håvard Flo expressed his delight at the signing of the Nigerian full back.

He said, “I am very pleased to get into Latifu. He is one fast and offensive right back, and has a lot of experience at the top level.”

He joins compatriots Afeez Aremu, Michael Ogungbaro and Daniel Chima Chukwu who moved to Norway recently.

Akeem, who is from Kano State has made two appearances for the Super Eagles, and was a member of 2007 under 20 team (Flying Eagles).
