In 2012 when Equatorial Guinea hosted the African Cup of Nations, Nigeria did not qualify.
Again in 2015 when 15 countries on the continent would converge in the Central African nation; the Super Eagles, 2013 AFCON Champions will not be there, consequent to the 2-2 draw in the game against South Africa at the Akwa Ibom International stadium on Wednesday.
With the result, Nigeria ended third on 8 points and much to the dismay of many fans; NFF president, Amaju Pinnick has said the Super Eagles ouster could be a blessing in disguise.
Quoting a Bible verse to back his claim, he said:
Pinnick was at the stadium as coach Stephen Keshi proved once again why he should not be Nigeria’s senior male national team coach but the president refuses to blame any the team but the NFF.
He assured the board’s commitment is to build a sustainable football culture in the country.
Even though he admits that it ''is a disappointment’’.
