The 30-year-old blogger was arrested in November 2013 by the Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps’ (IRGC). Mr Arabi, who was arrested along with his wife, said he wrote the “material without thinking and was in poor psychological condition”. Branch 75 of Tehran’s Criminal Court, under Judge Khorasani, found Mr Arabi guilty of insulting the Prophet, on Saturday, August 30.

Soheil Arabi was then sentenced to death back in September after he admitted to running several Facebook pages in which he posted messages insulting the Prophet.

After an appeal, Supreme Court in Iran last Thursday, November 20 still upheld his sentence and added a new charge "corruption on Earth," which doesn't allow for a pardon.

Arabi's case has received a lot of attention inside and outside of Iran, including a petition to stop his execution.
