You probably haven't heard of the religion, but these facts will thrill you.

 

Sikhism is a religion that believes in a single all powerful god, and is represented by a double-edged sword flanked by two daggers. it was founded in the 15th century by Guru Nanak Dev in the Punjab region, India.

1. It is the 5th largest religion in the world, with about 30 million followers.

2.The traditional greeting used by Sikhs is "Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh" which means "The Khalsa belongs to God, Victory belongs to God" and "Sat Sri Akal" which means "Immortal God is Truth"

3. It is not related to Hinduism or Islam.

4. They do not believe in war, converting people, or fasting.

5. The vast majority of Sikhs live in the Punjab, a part of northern India

6.  It is over 500 years old, and about 83,000 Sikh soldiers died during Two World war.

7. Their turban is usually approximately 15 ft. long.

8. They belief in a single all-powerful god, as opposed to religions that believe in multiple gods.

9. They belief in defending civil liberties and protecting the defenseless, equal rights regardless of gender, race, caste, or religion.

10. The universal symbol of Sikhism is the khanda, the double-edged sword flanked by two daggers.
