This was done in a traditional service at St Peter's basilica in the Vatican on Saturday, March 19, 2016.

As part of the ceremony, the men had to lie on the floor in front of the altar, to show their unworthiness for the position and also physically demonstrate their dependence upon God.

Peter Wells has been appointed the papal nuncio or permanent representative of South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho and Namibia, while Miguel Guixot is now secretary of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue.
