In a press briefing on Tuesday, his daughter Mpho Tutu said "He is being treated for a slight inflammation which is different from the infection he was treated for previously"
The 83-year-old battles prostatecancer, which was diagnosed 15 years ago, but his foundation said the current infection is unrelated.
Tutu, who received the NobelPeace Prize in 1984 for his efforts to end apartheid in his native South Africa, has remained active well into his 80s with the Desmond Tutu Peace Foundation and other organizations.
In a press briefing in Cape Town on Tuesday, his daughter Mpho Tutu said "He is being treated for a slight inflammation which is different from the infection he was treated for previously"
"He is in good spirits. It's the right place for him to be right now," she added. "As you know, and as my father is finding out, he is 83, not 38, so bouncing back from an illness is not qite as easy as it once was...My mother is worried they have been together for 60 years."
Though, she didn't state the kind of inflammation, she says the doctors anticipate that he will be home in a few days.
