In a directive, signed by the Archdiocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Alphonsus Oha, the archbishop advised all Catholics in Owerri to pray about the economic recession, Vanguard reports.

“As life gets harder, tougher and rougher in Imo State and the rest of Nigeria, the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, His Grace, Most Rev. Anthony J. V. Obinna, has called out the faithful to come out en masse and petition God, in a special one-day prayer for peace,” the statement read.

Rev. Oha also added that “the rally has no political motives, but is rather part of the national prayer engagement.”

The prayer rally holds on September 20, 2016.
