With humans, you usually have to do something, say something, buy something, in order to earn their love, in order for someone to validate you with the famous three words.
With God, you do not have to do anything, you just have to acknowledge it.
John 3:16 tells us that "that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Take a minute to imagine that kind of love, how much someone would love you that He would send His son to die for us.
As selfish, flawed, broken, as we are, God still sent Jesus to die for.
What is more astounding is that He did it, even though He knows that we might not accept this love, or that we might never love Him back.
Regardless of all of this, which would stop anyone from sacrificing so much, God did it anyway.
In the video above, renowned late poet, Maya Angelou, talks about the revelation that changed her life.
This discovery was that God loves her, it was overwhelming that she cries as she talks about someone loving her just the way she is, without her really doing anything to earn it.
As humans, we all want to be loved, we all want to be loved, in spite of our mistakes, flaws, and bad habits.
Thankfully, this kind of accepting/overwhelming love exists, in God, all we have to do is take it.
Realizing how much someone, God, loves you changes even the most hard-hearted, it gives you a reason to live, to do better, be better.
Romans 8:35-39 says, "Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Unlike the human love, God's love is not going anywhere, He won't stop loving you because you didn't iron His shirt, buy her bag, refuse to have sex with him/her, e.t.c.
God's love is not weighed down with all of our human restrictions, it is boundless, and unlimited.
The truth is that we do not deserve it, but He is offering it on a daily basis, all you have to do is take it and begin to live a fulfilling life, with God's amazing love for all of His children.
