The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged Nigerians to be realistic and endure the new electricity tariff proposed by the Federal Government.
'God will punish Govt if it doesn't provide electricity'
The new tariff has generated lots of opposition from different quarters, particularly the trade and labour unions in the country.
Daily Independent reports that since it was proposed, it has generated lots of opposition from different quarters, particularly the trade and labour unions in the country.
During a press briefing at the CAN annual Inter-Denominational Divine Service (IDDS), the Lagos CAN Chairman, Apostle Alexander Bamgbola said that Nigerians should be prepared to pay the electricity bill recently hiked by the government and power providers.
While noting that he would never support paying for services not enjoyed, he said that consumers should be prepared to pay for electricity services.
He also urged the government to ensure they provide electricity supply across the nation in line with consumers' demand.
The cleric stressed that failure on the part of the government or service providers to satisfy consumers with steady power supply would attract punishment from God.
