When does your relationship get more serious?

Being in a relationship with someone doesnt actually mean you guys are dating. Same way as dating someone doesnt mean you guys are best friends. Women spend two, three or even seven plus years and still have no clue where the relationship is heading. They don’t have a title or timeline to move the relationship forward to a solid commitment and they feel stuck on what to do

Relationships crush faster because those involved havent and cannot determine the real nature of their union. So, here are five quick steps to help determine where you stand and how to begin the conversation to get to the bottom of things once and for all.

1.) Open up

Feel free to let your man know what YOU want for your life and where you would like to see the relationship progress to. Be specific or exact. Men need direct communication where there’s no gray area.

2.) Create the perfect zone for a chat

Avoid starting with "we need to talk." He will take off! Men usually know they have done something terrible or are ready to go defensive before the conversation even begins. Therefore, creating a "safe zone", (which is a very calming and relaxed atmosphere) will help you two to talk maturely and respectfully and there’s reassurance that this is a no judgement convo.

3.) Be Positive

Make sure you first of all share all the amazing things you love about him. Also make him know what you have enjoyed in the relationship and you can bring up fun memories you both have created together and how much you are looking forward to creating more memories in the future. This is to make him know you love and appreciate what you have even though you want more.

4.) Ask open-ended questions

Ask questions like "How do you envision us?:" or "What are your plans to move OUR relationship forward?" just to encourage more dialogue from him. Wait and let him answer or explain. While you listen, smile and be quiet. We know it’s difficult not to interject but you want to allow him an opportunity to think about his answer and share his thoughts

5.) Make yourself ready for his reply

Keep in mind, he may or may not respond exactly the way you had hoped and you need to have in mind what your course of action is going to be. Be consistent, stick to the plan and be optimistic!

Show excitement if it's something you want to hear. You can also begin sharing and becoming more open and transparent in your relationship. You could also start planning your future together as a couple. But if his response isn't what you expected, take a moment of silent to digest the bombshell and think of what to say.
