Minister promises to address Nigeria's 17m housing deficit

Find out the minister's short term plan towards solving Nigeria's huge housing deficit.

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola

It is no secret that Nigeria faces a huge housing challenge, which needs 17 million houses annually in order to be solved.

However, it looks like things are about to get better as the newly appointed minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola(SAN), has come up with a plan.

Speaking at his maiden press briefing tagged “Setting the Agenda for Delivering Change”, he revealed plans to construct 40 blocks of 12 flats per block, in each state.

"This will give 480 flats per states. States will however, have to provide 5 to 10 hectares of land for the project. We commit all our skills, energies, and collective integrity unreservedly to playing our part, but how much success we deliver is dependent also on the citizens’ commitment to their own part.’’
