We have all heard the perfect story of how the best books were written on trains and in restroom's.
Do you want to write but feel like you don’t have the time? Don’t have the right desk, the perfect office, the soft comfy chair of your dreams? Here are some productive and inspirational places to write your book.
If you want to write a best seller book, its time you become a guerilla writer!
1. Public transport
This is a nice one to ease you into guerrilla writing. Buses are great places for reading, so why not switch to writing? Although, Lagos traffic is usually a mess but be it bus, train, or taxi, let the rural landscape, CMS sky scrapers and suburban homes catapult you into a new setting for your novel. Pick up on the buzz of conversation around you.
2. In bed
Just like the bus, if you read in bed you can write in bed. Your bed is the most relaxing, comforting place, just let your dreams fall onto the pages. NOTE: Sleeping is important, you should usually try to get plenty of sleep.
3. In a garden/ children playhouse
This is a nice one because it brings you back to childhood, to playfulness and to sparking your imagination. Take time to smell the roses, find a park bench and take a seat.
4. At the Beach
A little cliché? Every author I know must have tried this, there is no denying that beaches are perfect places for musing things over. They inspire breathtaking and creative ideas. Although you run the risk of facing the dilemma of having to choose between actually experiencing life and writing about it.
Also, participate in some activities on the beach and no laptops please!
5. In a car/train while travelling
Go for long car/train trips, unless you suffer from motion sickness.
Also, this might not really work if you are the only passenger, consider that the driver might like to actually talk to you and not just listen to you scribble in your notebook.
NOTE: Do not attempt guerrilla writing if you are the one DRIVING the car!
6. A bar
Not a club please? I mean a chill, hangout spot where people like to tell a few good alcohol-embellished stories. Where do you think Lord of the Rings started, heh?
7. Shopping Mall
Do you know who goes to shopping malls? Everyone. A mall is golden people-watching territory. Observe what drives people into certain stores, what fills their shopping bags, and how people interact with each other.
8.Library
A quiet study room, white walls, no distractions, and quick access to research—what’s not to love?
9. Grandma’s house
Grandparents, or just your favorite elderly people, have the best stories and experiences to share—and likely an array of sugary confections to compel your creativity. Plus, grandparents carry with them all the comforts of home, without the routine of your own.
And finally my favourite
10. Bookstore
Soak up all the literary genius surrounding you through osmosis. Imagine what your book would look like resting on a shelf. There are literally a billion chances for inspiration here.
