Despite losing party chairmanship to former governor, Gabam reemphasizes his commitment to PDP

Ali Modu Sheriff

One of the contestants for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairmanship, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, has said that he has no regrets losing the position to a former governor of Borno State, AliModu Sheriff.

Gabam in a statement said the emergence of Sheriff was a decision taken by some governors of the People's Democratic Party when their screening was ongoing. He said as a young man who labored among others to ensure the creation of the PDP, he will not leave but work to ensure that they return to power.

"I want to use this opportunity to express my profound appreciation to each and everyone who in one way or the other supported me or contributed towards my onerous contest for the Chairmanship of our great party the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)."

"My decision to vie for the position was borne out of my genuine interest, commitment and vision to rebuild and reposition our party in the face of the current challenges bedevilling it. My deep gratitude goes to the State Executive Committee of our party in my state for finding me worthy to be nominated for the race despite all odds. Your decision and confidence in my ability has indeed proven to the world that your penchant for credibility and integrity in leadership is unshakable, deep rooted and commendable," Gabam said in the statement.

"To my campaign team who toiled day and night to save my candidacy, no amount of words can satisfactorily express the depth of my gratitude and thanks for your selfless contributions. As for my supporters who demonstrated tremendous believe in my capacity to deliver, I say thank you for the trust and confidence reposed on me. Man proposes, God disposes, but all said and done, better days ahead," Gabam added.
